The threats caused by illegal, wasteful, destructive or unselective and over fishing are addressed by a number of local and international organizations in West Africa. Cooperation among those organizations and their liaison with the private sector is crucial to the successful development of sustainable seafood sector. 

The Alliance provides public and private sector stakeholders with a platform to exchange information and best practices to attain a sustainable seafood sector in West Africa.
